Types of non profit marketing

Non profit marketing and charity marketing often hinges on building awareness for the brand & mission  and the services offered to individuals in need, as well as – especially prevalent to charities – raising much needed funds to support the work they do. With this in mind, I’ll explore types of non profit marketing…

Non profit marketing

Partnership marketing: building relationships and partnerships with various businesses and brands can be a great way for non profits and charities to gain support, awareness, PR opportunities and, of course, funds; working with and alongside businesses & brands sharing similar ethoses to reach new audiences, raise vital funds for specific projects or provide volunteer opportunities to community-minded businesses looking to fulfill their corporate social responsibility and support local causes. Essentially, non profit partnership marketing can benefit both the not-for-profit organisation and the for-profit organisation equally!

Content marketing: content marketing is all about messaging and bringing a personal, familiar voice to a brand; concentrating on benefits and/or people. As such, content marketing is one of the most valuable & powerful activities a nonprofit can embark on. Content marketing can take the form of:

  • Blogs
  • White papers
  • Case studies & testimonials
  • Videos
  • Infographics

Social media marketing: social media is a great way for non profits and charities to build audiences, foster relationships with individual givers & corporate investors, and raise awareness for new projects & campaigns. What’s more, social media is a low cost solution to organic and paid promotional activities; platforms like Facebook and instagram offering PPC solutions for just a few ££s per advert.

Search Engine Optimisation: search engine optimisation (SEO) is the backbone of online marketing and ensuring your website content is optimised for organic search; pulling in search engine users for relevant keywords & phrases, alongside informing and supporting Google Ads campaigns, and supporting social media marketing efforts.

Email marketing: email marketing is another very effective, cost effective way for nonprofits and charities to spread the word, raise awareness for new projects and events, and raise funds, as well as keeping stakeholders, volunteers and investors informed of how their support is making a difference.
